Background
To meet the challenges of the new millennium India needs to produce quality products and quality manpower comparable to the best in the world.
Over 1500 technical institutions offer variety of programmes and produce manpower of varied quality. As a result, India produces over 450,000 engineers every year but only 25% of these are employable.
From IITs to NITs to State supported/aided and private institutions, India has wide variety in education with gaps and distortions creeping in. For India to become knowledge economy there is an urgent need to “EQUATE” these institutions with IITs and NITs or attain even higher quality standards. For this purpose eminent scholars joined hands to create EQUATE, a consultancy organization.
